Tally

Various broadcast, social and web edits created for Tally. For the broadcast edits, I handled 100% of the editing, animation and screen replacements for the first spot in the above video. For the rest I picked up where an agency we replaced left off, in some cases without original working files. That work involved a mix of updating animations on mobile devices (with and without tracking points) using MochaAE, social and broadcast cutdowns and all QC + submission to ad networks and Extreme Reach for national broadcast campaigns.

Air Canada

My work for Air Canada and Aeroplan was displayed on their in flight displays, at major airports across Canada, on the displays in and outside of Scotiabank Arena and on the in stadium displays during NHL and NBA games at Canada Life Centre, Canadian Tire Centre & Rogers Arena. I was given vector illustrations to animate from scratch but in some cases I was working with After Effects projects started by someone else. This was challenging because I did not have contact with the original designer. All of these examples had French versions and several had 4:5, 1:1 and 9:16 aspect ratio versions for various social media campaigns.

Wealthsimple

Here is a cut down of several projects I have been working on since early 2021 for Wealthsimple. The first 2 clips were cutdowns I made of previously shot TV spots. I had access to the original footage and created new edits with them. After that, you will see some work I did for some virtual events which the whole company attended and an onboarding video for Wealthsimple Tax. Once the music starts, I chose a few sections from several edits I have done for the User Acquisition team. Virtually every edit you see in this video was made in 16:9, 4:5, 1:1 and 9:16 aspect ratios for various social networks. I have done 100s of exports in this style for them.

World Poker Tour Online

Here are four animations I recently completed for World Poker Tour Online's launch on multiple platforms. I was tasked to come up with original animations for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac sign up instructions. I made the 3D animation in Blender using stock assets, with some modifications. The device screen animations are a combination of screen captures and animations made in After Effects.

Klick Health

This reel shows some of the animations that I made for Klick Health during a recent contract. I created everything minus the animated characters from 1:18 - 1:30. In that case I was only responsible for the supers, animations, and logos above the video and reformatting it for a 1:1 aspect ratio. The work was created in Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere with the exception of the gold ring and green/blue background from 1:44 - 1:53. That scene was created in a 3D application called Blender then brought into Adobe to add the clouds. I was hired mostly to help with marketing communications and creating graphics for a now virtualized live event, but I also helped out with some client work from Pfizer, Novartis and Aurinia, which is included in this reel.

Blender 3D

Some samples of my self taught Blender progress. The Rainbow 6 Siege characters, iPhone and game controllers were modified from existing assets I found online but were animated and shaded (textured) by me. The animated letters and liquid sims were done from scratch.

PathIQ

Animation and video editing for PathIQ, which is a part of Cossette. The footage is stock and I did all of the animations at 60 frames per second using After Effects from static illustrator files.

Touch Bistro

Here are two of multiple spots I edited for TouchBistro. This first video aired nationally during primetime across the United States on all of the major networks and I handled the broadcast export and captioning for each one. It was shot on RED Dragon in 5K on a set in Toronto. I handled all editing from storyboard animatics to the broadcast export while working with a Technical Director for screen replacements and other VFX, Boombox Sound for audio mixing, Redlab for colour grading and Extreme Reach for broadcast exporting. Below that spot is the extended web edit, which had several cutdowns and variations for different web deliveries. The ad debuted during the premiere of a Gordon Ramsay show on FOX and was tied to a Touch Bistro promotion within the show. The timing of this meant that it was viewed by up to 2 million people the first time it aired based on ratings.

Uberflip

A cutdown of one of Uberflip's conferences in Austin. I was sent there to shoot and create an edit of the event. I shot the video with two Panasonic GH5s, recorded field and speaker audio with a Zoom H6 recorder and used a DJI Ronin S for moving shots. I used Premiere and After Effects for editing and animation.

Some examples of video and animations from a 37 video series called Uberflip Academy. I shot and edited the series on a Panasonic GH5s in front of a green screen lit with 2 LED panels and recorded the audio on a Zoom H6 and did all of the editing in Premiere and After Effects. I also created the animated intros to each section. Each speaker was speaking into a teleprompter. I shot, edited and did all of the motion graphics entirely on my own. At the end of the video I included 2 short animations I did for company social media ads, also created in After Effects.

Playfight VFX

Some samples from a recent project I worked on for a feature film called Omniboat: A Fast Boat Fantasia that played at Sundance in 2020. I was hired by Playfight VFX as a compositor. Here are some before and after samples of some of the shots I worked on. All of the work was done with After Effects and Mocha.

Sporting Life x Camp Ooch

This project was for Camp Ooch, a summer camp for kids with terminal diseases. They partner with Sporting Life to do a 10k marathon to support the non profit called the Sporting Life 10K. I did all of the editing for this project and was given footage from Sony FS7, Red Epic and Sony A6300. I edited everything in Premiere.

CBC

Here are 3 short mini docs I edited for a CBC show called Us And Them: Diversity, Division and a World of Difference. The videos were companion pieces to 5 full length CBC Radio documentaries that were on Ideas with Paul Kennedy. The footage was shot on DJI Mavic and Sony FS7 + A7Sii.

Here are two home tour/interview edits for web use by CBC. The footage was shot on Red Dragon 6k and Sony FS7 + A7Sii.

Sanofi Genzyme

One of 3 product videos for Sanofi Genzyme, a pharmaceutical company. They launched an app called Curatio which contains an online community specifically for people living with with Multiple Sclerosis called MS One to One. I did all of the editing and animation in Premiere and After Effects, and was given stock assets and VO to work with.

Chevrolet

Here are two of several edits for Chevrolet. I did the editing for all of the spots and was given footage from Red Dragon 6k and Sony FS7 + A7Sii.

Three of multiple spots for another Chevrolet campaign. I did the editing for all 3 spots and was given footage from DJI Inspire, Sony A7Sii and the Sony FS7. I shot and edited the second spot with another videographer on Sony A7Sii and the Sony FS7 and it was lit by LED panels.

Starseed Holdings

Here are 5 edits in a single video. I edited these for a company called Starseed Holdings Inc. It was shot on Red Epic. I did all of the editing and grading in Adobe Premiere.

Diageo

I shot and edited this French and English series of recipe videos for Tanqueray's Youtube page on my own at their headquarters. It was shot on a Blackmagic URSA Mini with Rokinon Cine Primes and was lit with LED panels.

These Captain Morgan spots were shot and edited by me at The Juggernaut on Canon DSLRs with an assortment of lenses.

Here is a short animated web spot I did for Captain Morgan. It was done in After Effects and separated into layers to be sent off to a service called Google Vogon, who then publishes a localized version of the spot to Youtube. The system then took all of the parts that I exported and automatically made 74 variations for different markets. This is an example of two of them back to back.

Boston Pizza x Toronto Blue Jays

Boston Pizza gave a group of young Jays fans the opportunity to be a Blue Jay for a day. For this project, I handled all editing and text animations were created by modifying previously designed assets from After Effects compositions created by a Motion Graphics Designer.

Petro Canada

This is a speech that Paul Hollands, CEO of A&W Food Services of Canada gave at a recent Petro-Canada corporate event. The footage was shot on a Red Epic Dragon 6K and two Sony FS7 cameras. I was given 3 uncut angles from each camera with one stereo microphone feed and was tasked to bring it down by about 50% in length, colour correct it and to add French subtitles. The subtitles were translated without timecodes and I lined them up manually.

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television

A promotional video for The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. The video was edited in Premiere with motion graphics done in After Effects.

The Canadian Magazine Awards

Motion graphics for the Canadian Magazine Awards. I was hired by Truth And Dare to create 30 animations to be presented on several screens and a large projection during Magazines Canada's award ceremony. Everything was created within After Effects.

Girls Night Out Wines

The Tite Group contracted me to shoot and edit multiple spots for Girls Night Out Wines' Instagram page. Edited in Premiere and After effects and shot in 4K on Blackmagic Ursa Mini.

Christmas Keyboard

The team at Minuum decided to create an advent calendar style keyboard for iOS called Christmas Keyboard. The stop motion was done by drilling a camera mount for a DSLR into the ceiling and controlling a Canon 7D through a laptop. The computer showed a real time video to actors through a second display mounted off camera so I could pose them frame by frame. Photoshop, Canon EOS Utility, After Effects and Final Cut Pro were used to create this.

Minuum

Several promotional videos were made to debut new features on Minuum keyboard's iOS and Android apps while I was working as their Communications Manager. I shot and edited the examples shown above. We would regularly use platforms like reddit and Youtube to present different concepts, including one of the world's first examples of someone using a smart watch to type a text message, months before the Apple Watch was even confirmed to be a real device.
